Norfolk Museum

Norfolk MuseumNorfolk is a beautiful place and home to some amazing original artists who adore their surroundings and enjoy expressing this in different ways through paintings and crafts.

Seascapes are one of the more popular subjects, and whether it's a seaside landscape or a lavender fields collection then there is art a plenty for you in here - home of some most wonderful scenery and spectacular views.

The Norwich Museum is home to some early 19th century art, one collection that they hold is of seascapes which were originally presented by the well known Royal Naval Officer, Captain George William Manby, born in Downham Market.  The collection,  which depicts the harsher times of life at the sea edge, was a gift to the museum which had been commissioned by Captain Manby himself.

Another unique collection is the Norfolk Collection by James Bulwer, an amateur artist from Aylsham who's art (totalling over 1,000 pieces) is held in various international art houses and museums.  The Norfolk collection consists of buildings and scenes throughout Norfolk, and as one can image the fine art collection covers the most cultural parts of Norfolk.

Norwich Museum is certainly not to be missed if you are visiting Norfolk and would like to see the large amount of paintings available to view there. divider
